Highland Farms Unveils Plastic-Free Packaging for Smoked Scottish Salmon

Highland Farms has developed plastic-free packaging for its Smoked Scottish Salmon, bringing together premium Scottish seafood and a more environmentally responsible approach to packaging.

The concept replaces conventional plastic packaging with materials designed to be recyclable, compostable or biodegradable. Its outer sleeve can be recycled, while the inner bag is intended to be home compostable or biodegradable. The salmon board is also designed to be recyclable or home compostable.

This thoughtful approach aims to reduce plastic waste while helping to protect our oceans without compromising the freshness, quality or presentation of the product.

Inside the new-look pack is responsibly sourced Scottish salmon, traditionally cured and gently smoked over oak wood chips on the Cumbrian coast. The result is a beautifully balanced smoked salmon with a rich texture and distinctive flavour, ready to enjoy in everything from relaxed breakfasts to special-occasion dishes.

The packaging’s clean coastal design reflects the provenance of the product and makes its environmental benefits easy to understand. Clear symbols highlight four central commitments:
